Overview

Climb Africa’s highest peak via the scenic and gentle Rongai Route on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Rongai approaches Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border, offering a quieter, less crowded ascent compared to the southern routes. Known for its gradual slopes and excellent acclimatization profile, this route is ideal for trekkers seeking a more relaxed climb while still reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m).

The trek passes through five distinct ecological zones — rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic summit zone — with stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. With professional guides, experienced porters, and quality camping equipment, the Rongai Route provides a perfect balance of comfort, safety, and adventure.

This 6-day itinerary includes a summit push from Kibo Hut with proper acclimatization, maximizing your chances of a successful and safe climb.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.

In the evening, meet your head mountain guide for a comprehensive pre-climb briefing, including route overview, altitude preparation, safety procedures, and gear check. Any missing equipment can be rented locally if needed.

Hiking time: 5–6 hours | Habitat: Moorland to Alpine Desert
