3 Days Tarangire & Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Nestled at the base of Mount Meru, the city serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. After check-in, you will receive a detailed safari briefing covering the journey ahead, wildlife expectations, and practical travel tips to ensure a smooth experience.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax after your flight. You may enjoy the hotel facilities, take a short walk in the gardens, or prepare your camera equipment for the adventure ahead. A restful evening sets the stage for an early start the following morning as you begin your safari into the wilderness.

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive through Maasai villages and open countryside. Upon arrival, begin your game drive through landscapes dominated by towering baobab trees and the life-giving Tarangire River. The park is famous for its massive elephant herds, often seen gathering along the riverbanks, as well as giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a variety of antelope species.

Predators such as lions and leopards are frequently spotted, especially during the dry season when wildlife congregates near water sources. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your afternoon game drive, exploring different habitats that support over 500 bird species. In the late afternoon, exit the park and transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

After an early breakfast, travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, ascending into the cooler highlands with spectacular views of the crater rim. Descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive on the floor of this natural wildlife sanctuary. The crater hosts an astonishing density of animals, including lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, and if fortunate, the rare black rhino.

Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, where you can safely observe these massive animals in the water. The enclosed ecosystem allows for remarkable wildlife viewing in a relatively small area, making it one of Africa’s most reliable places to see the Big Five. In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and transfer to your lodge on the rim or nearby highlands for dinner and overnight, with panoramic views across the landscape.

After breakfast, depart the Ngorongoro highlands and return to Arusha, enjoying scenic views of the Great Rift Valley along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for lunch in Arusha or last-minute shopping for souvenirs and local crafts.

Later, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your memorable Tanzanian safari adventure.
