Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (or Arusha Airport), you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, relax in the hotel gardens, recover from your journey, or enjoy optional activities such as a coffee tour or local market visit. In the evening, meet your safari guide for a detailed briefing covering the route, wildlife expectations, safety guidelines, and packing recommendations for the days ahead.

Overnight in Arusha on a bed-and-breakfast basis, allowing you to rest comfortably before the adventure begins.

After an early breakfast, depart Arusha and drive southwest toward Tarangire National Park, passing through Maasai villages and open countryside. As you enter the park, the landscape reveals towering baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and the Tarangire River — a vital water source that attracts large concentrations of wildlife. Begin your game drive immediately, with excellent chances of seeing elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic site within the park before continuing your afternoon exploration. Tarangire is also known for its tree-climbing lions and prolific birdlife, making it a paradise for photographers. In the late afternoon, proceed to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Depart after breakfast for the Serengeti via the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. The journey offers spectacular views of volcanic landscapes, crater lakes, and traditional Maasai homesteads. Stop for a picnic lunch along the way before descending into the vast Serengeti ecosystem, where the scenery transforms into endless plains stretching to the horizon.

Enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, searching for wildlife including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and the migration herds depending on the season. Arrive in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight in the Serengeti, where the open skies and distant calls of wildlife create a truly authentic safari atmosphere.

Spend a full day tracking the Great Wildebeest Migration. Your guide will follow the movements of the herds to position you for the best viewing opportunities, whether near river crossings, open plains, or grazing grounds. Witness dramatic scenes of survival as predators stalk the migrating animals, creating unforgettable moments in the wild.

A picnic lunch will be served in the bush, allowing you to remain immersed in the action throughout the day. In the afternoon, explore different habitats such as kopjes (rocky outcrops) where lions often rest or river areas frequented by hippos and crocodiles. Return to camp for dinner and overnight under the star-filled African sky.

Another full day in the Serengeti allows for deeper exploration of regions not yet visited, increasing your chances of witnessing diverse wildlife encounters. Depending on the season, your guide may take you to northern or southern areas where migration activity is concentrated. Along the way, observe elephants grazing, hyenas patrolling, and a wide variety of birdlife across the plains.

Optional activities include a sunrise hot air balloon safari, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Serengeti and its roaming wildlife, followed by a champagne bush breakfast. In the afternoon, continue game drives before returning to camp for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast and a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Travel through scenic landscapes with opportunities for cultural visits or a stop at Olduvai Gorge (optional), one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites.

Arrive at your lodge on the Ngorongoro Crater rim, where sweeping views into the caldera provide a dramatic backdrop. Spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying the cool highland climate and preparing for the next day’s crater descent. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
